Los Santos
Located on the Azuéro Peninsula, this province–as well as Herrera, is considered the cradle of Panamanian traditions and folklore.
Some of its traditions are the famous “Carnaval de Las Tablas”, “Corpus Christi” in La Villa de Los Santos, “El Festival de la Mejorana”, a parade in which women wearing La Pollera, walk through the main streets of town in Guararé.
The best event to admire the national costume and its jewelry is “El Festival de la Pollera”. La Pollera is the traditional female dress–it’s handmade, and its confection takes about a year.
Here you can also appreciate picturesque houses of thatch walls and ceiling tile, purely of our Hispanic heritage.
